About the role
Can 5-year-olds learn twice as fast as conventional schools typically permit when coached effectively? Alpha has demonstrated this is possible. Our K-2 students complete core academic material in only 2 hours per day through AI-driven adaptive learning systems. Your role is not to deliver traditional instruction—it is to coach. You will facilitate dynamic life skills sessions, inspire students to reach their learning targets, and cultivate the mindset and behaviors essential for long-term success. This is the most critical position at the most forward-thinking school on the planet: you directly deliver Alpha's 3 Promises to a focused group of students and transform their educational trajectory. Responsibilities
- Facilitating one-hour life skills sessions with K-2 students, coaching them and reinforcing literacy skills introduced by Reading Specialists
- Inspiring students to progress through adaptive learning platforms and meet their weekly academic targets
- Guiding emotional regulation, resilience, and problem-solving through consistent routines and supportive engagement
- Monitoring student development and identifying challenges early, then adapting your approach in partnership with your team
- Building a classroom environment that balances structure, energy, and individual connection
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- 3+ years of experience working with children ages 4–8 in educational settings, afterschool programs, coaching, or comparable roles
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills: capable of engaging and maintaining the focus of groups of young children
- Ability to maintain high expectations for yourself and students, and motivate kids to achieve their objectives
- Growth mindset and openness to coaching
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Available to work full-time and in-person at our campus in Chicago, IL; Miami, FL; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Monica, CA
