About the role

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the bus driver in providing bus transportation services to children. This includes escorting children to and from the vehicle, maintaining constant supervision, assisting teachers with supervision and other duties, and rotating to provide staff with breaks.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts to and from the vehicle and maintains a constant watch over the children entrusted in his/her care and is aware of their location at all times.
  • Aid teachers with supervision of children.
  • Assist kitchen staff prepare food items.
  • Assist teachers with laundry duties.
  • Rotate as necessary to provide staff with breaks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development.
  • Experience in bus and safety risk management.
  • Experience in policy and procedure processes.
  • Experience in working in group settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Understanding of the interrelationships between services and systems.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to gather data for reports.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
  • Knowledgeable of a personal computer, including Microsoft Office.
  • Accurate data documentation and recordkeeping skills.

Qualifications

  • English/Spanish bi-lingual fluency is preferred.
  • Willingness to develop instructional skills in the field of child development.

Skills

  • Patience towards working with young children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and/or Spanish.
  • Flexibility to work different schedules, including split shifts and various bus routes.
  • Knowledge of child development and safety practices.
