Schedule

  • 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Qualifications

  • Must have or be able to apply for an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Associate’s Degree preferred; high school diploma acceptable.
  • Must be “ESEA Highly Qualified” by meeting one of the following:
    • Completed at least two years of study (48 semester or 72 quarter hours) from an accredited institution of higher education; or
    • Obtained an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education; or
    • Passed the Praxis exam for Paraprofessionals as approved by the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Desirable personal qualities: ability to control emotions, maintain confidentiality, adaptability, alertness, cooperation, friendliness, interest, sense of humor, sincerity.
  • Computer literacy skills; must pass district assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties under the direction and supervision of the teacher or principal.
  • Keep classroom records and prepare teacher correspondence with parents.
  • Duplicate and collect instructional materials; prepare pupil work areas.
  • Maintain current and neat bulletin boards.
  • Work with students who have specific needs as directed by the teacher.
  • Gather and distribute books and supplies; assist children with clothing.
  • Conduct student assessments with teacher supervision.
  • Operate the POS system during breakfast and/or lunch; make deposits and send out balance-due notices.
  • Supervise students, ensure safety and welfare, and enforce building and district-wide rules.
  • Notify administrators of potential hazards or problems; complete required paperwork.
  • Assist with student/parent/teacher requests for make-up homework or intervention as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Check & Connect Program Responsibilities

  • Communicate frequently with parents, students, teachers, counselors, and administration about student progress.
  • Work directly with teachers to obtain student classwork and monitor performance/progress via Infinite Campus.
  • Organize student work completed for each class.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Google Docs, Google Classroom, and word processing.

Goals

  • Improve the instructional climate of the classroom and school.
  • Provide instructional reinforcement to students with the greatest need.
  • Assist in linking the community with the school.
