About the role

The Classroom Support Substitute works in collaboration with center staff to greet parents, assist the Head Start Teacher in delivering the classroom curriculum, and ensure the classroom environment aligns with Head Start Program Performance Standards, licensing minimum standards, and agency standards.

Responsibilities

• Greet parents and assist in classroom activities
• Supervise children in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and agency standards
• Build positive relationships with children through positive communication, appropriate physical proximity, respect, and positive discipline
• Maintain supervision of children within Head Start Program Performance ratios
• Assist in various Head Start classrooms and centers as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Successful completion of the Family Service Smart Start for Teacher’s ANGELS Substitute Program
• Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification
• Ability to implement appropriate teaching strategies and techniques
• Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable
