The actual offer will be based on your relevant experience, education, certifications, and other factors.

About the role

The City of Greeley Recreation is seeking an Adaptive and Inclusive Class Instructor to teach and lead programs in youth and adult sports, swim lessons, aquatic programs, and social programs. Instructors will design and deliver safe, effective, and motivating classes for community members with varying ability levels.

Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross; ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Valid driver’s license

OR any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that enable successful performance of the essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching swim lessons
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities

Skills

  • Ability to design effective classes based on format and participant needs
  • Ability to provide program modifications for a wide variety of abilities
  • Experience with inclusion facilitation and positive behavior support
  • Ability to motivate and build rapport with participants to ensure a safe and welcoming environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver group programs on the weekly schedule
  • Maintain accurate records of class attendance
  • Cross-train in other program areas as needed
  • Serve as a role model for staff and participants in fitness, etiquette, and safety
  • Foster a friendly, inclusive, and service-oriented environment
  • Educate participants on policies and maintain positive relations
  • Maintain familiarity with Greeley Recreation functions, including risk management, membership, and operational practices
  • Respond to injuries and assist in emergency procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

Workdays may extend from early morning to late evening, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Work Environment

  • Frequent interruptions and heavy public contact
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in adverse weather, extreme heat, loud noises, dust, fumes, or chemical exposure
  • Regular travel within the county and nearby cities (access to a personal or City fleet vehicle may be required)

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods
  • Lift up to 49 lbs
  • Physical effort including squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing/walking
