Primary Objective Of Position
The Health Paraprofessional provides delegated health services and support in order to promote the health and well being of students so they can be successful learners.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs routine first aid care to students and staff with injuries and illness and conducts standardized first aid follow-up procedures.
- Maintains and updates health office records, including medication logs, daily visit logs, student health records, and student immunization records.
- Under the direction of the LSN, provides care to students with chronic medical conditions, including administering medication.
- Performs emergency first aid care to students and staff with injuries and illnesses.
- Affords assistance in organizing the Health Screening program, including coordinating the use of volunteers, scheduling screening, recording results, and preparing annual screening report.
- Understands and implements OSHA regulations regarding universal precautions for blood borne pathogens and implements safe practices.
- Participates in training on third party reimbursement and implements third party reimbursement tasks as needed.
Job Qualifications
- Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
- Evidence of successful experiences working with students and understanding their needs.
- Experience working with school age children is preferred.
- Experience working in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Evidence of basic word processing, PC and clerical skills.
- Evidence of ability to work in a team environment.
- Evidence of willingness to participate in ongoing training in health and technology.
- Evidence of the ability to respect, protect and maintain the confidentiality of students, staff, and families.
- Evidence of a willingness to work under supervision of the Coordinator of Health Services, LSN, and building principal.
- Evidence of the ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work with constant interruptions.
- Evidence of excellent human relations, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Experience working with these cares, as delegated by the LSN, is required: gastrostomy tubes, seizure disorders, central line care, ileostomy care, Diastat administration, diabetes care, feeding pumps, and prior training on ambu bagging for backup vent care.
Pay
Minimum hourly rate: $23.49 (new rate for 2026-2027)

Schedule
Assignment 3.5 hours per day Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Orientation
Orientation: Wednesday, June 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Extended School Year Dates
Extended School Year Dates: July 7 to July 30, 2026.
Working Conditions
This position is not benefit eligible.
