Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with principals to develop and implement student support plans including procedures for positive behavior support, mediation, and restorative processes.
- Supervise the Student Support Room and facilitate student behavior reflection, relationship restoration, and positive classroom engagement.
- Afford administrative team with parent communication, providing information to parents concerning school related matters.
- Attend grade level meetings and help collaboratively develop plans to support student needs.
- Identify struggling students and collaborate with staff to collect data and feedback to share with parents during meetings to develop creative, individual student support plans.
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and ability to support, students IEP needs and attend IEP meetings as needed.
- Lead weekly student groups aimed at addressing relevant issues and concerns in the student body.
- Plan and enact before and after school programs targeted at improving student climate.
- Lead educational outreach initiatives focused on developing a positive student climate.
- Confer with counselors and teachers to develop individual preventive discipline plans.
- Afford in monitoring and supervision of school facilities in conjunction with principals.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications
- Experience in working with student discipline issues.
- Experience with middle school students and has demonstrated ability to establish strong relationships with middle school students.
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
- Evidence of highly effective student management and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with staff and parents to address behavioral concerns and issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively; orally, in writing and via the phone.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and make independent decisions.
- Must be available before school, after school and designated days in the summer for special events, meetings and trainings.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
