Class B Roll Off Truck Driver
Interstate Waste Services is a progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, with a rail-served landfill in Ohio. About the role
Drivers safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks to pick up bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material. They transport the material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, often making multiple trips per shift. The position may require repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds, moving and maneuvering up to 100 pounds, and mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times per route.
- Routes may require navigating congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations, with highly skilled backing maneuvers.
- Drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
- Pre- and post-trip inspections are required to ensure compliance with IWS safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
Requirements
- 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement.
- 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 7 years.
- Great safety record and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
- Ability to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports.
- Must meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
- Willing and able to work required hours, which may include weekends, nights, and holidays, as allowed under DOT regulations.
- Required 1 year of roll-off experience.
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission.
Pay
Hourly pay: $25.00 – $32.00.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours.
- Early start time: 4:00 AM or 5:00 AM.
- Year-round steady work.
