Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country. Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material
• Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, making one or more trips per shift
• Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers in congested communities and confined or tight city areas
• Climb in and out of the truck cab multiple times per route to service customer accounts
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with IWS safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws
• Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and move/maneuver up to 100 pounds
• Mount and dismount the truck multiple times per route
• Navigate routes that may include weekend, night, or holiday work as required by DOT regulations
• Ensure truck is in compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations prior to and during operation
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake endorsement
• 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 7 years
• Great safety record and clean MVR
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports
• Ability to read and understand maps
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position
• Willing and able to work required hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays as allowed under DOT regulations
