Class A Shuttle Driver
Location: Charlotte, NC - Old Dowd Rd (Plant)
About the role
As a key representative of Airgas, the Class A Shuttle Driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to Airgas branches, plants, and customers using a company-provided tractor-trailer. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
- Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers
- Support deliveries in a timely manner
- Safely secure and unsecure cylinders
- Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; this is a physically active, hands-on position requiring frequent movement in and out of the vehicle

Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire) and Airbrake endorsements
- Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card, and endorsements
- No more than two traffic convictions, two at-fault accidents, or a combination of one traffic conviction and one at-fault accident in the last 3 years
- No driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven years
- Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
- Able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
- One year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or a certificate of completion from a trucking school within the last 12 months
