Class A, Manual Transmission Truck Driver

About the role

Premier Metals, a subsidiary of Niagara Metals and Triple M (U.S.) Inc., is a full‑service scrap metal buyer in Rochester, NY. The company is seeking a Driver – CDL A (Manual Transmission) to transport bins locally within a 60‑90 minute radius of the facility, handling 3‑4 loads per day and providing occasional manual labor assistance to warehouse staff. The ideal candidate is a team player with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate transport as assigned; transport locally within 60‑90 minutes of the facility, picking up bins from customer locations and returning them to the facility (expected 3‑4 loads a day).
• Perform manual labor to assist warehouse staff as needed; bins/materials are loaded and unloaded with a forklift.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
• Document and log work/rest periods, miles driven, and retain fuel/toll receipts.
• Comply with truck‑driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) and company policies.
• Communicate with dispatchers throughout the day on job status.
• Report defects, accidents, or violations.
• Maintain professional presentation and interaction with internal and external customers.
• Accurately complete driver logbook and inspection reports (pre‑trip, en‑route, post‑trip).
• Perform other transportation duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Class A truck driver (van trailer).
• Hands‑on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.).
• Knowledge of applicable truck‑driving rules and regulations.
• No recent moving or driving violations.
• Ability to perform some manual labor.
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
• Valid CDL A with manual transmission and a valid DOT medical card.
