About the role

The Lead Support Driver will travel to various locations and fill in for regular route collection drivers to cover vacation time, sick leave, or other business needs. While the company strives to keep Lead Support drivers within their own region, occasional travel outside the region may be required, potentially staying out for up to 2 weeks. All company-related travel expenses, including rental vehicle, airfare, hotel, and meals, will be covered upon management approval. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a clear mind and diligence for both personal and others' safety.

Responsibilities

  • Load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes with 15 to 25 stops per day as determined by the Company.
  • Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles per DOT requirements and all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Operate manual or electric pallet jack as needed.
  • Use a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers, ensuring all client locations are clean and free of debris.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Use hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment.
  • Maintain basic truck equipment and ensure overall cleanliness of the equipment.
  • Utilize the electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and other required documentation.
  • Maintain paperwork (contamination and service tickets, truck maintenance, etc.) and submit all documentation to the appropriate party.
  • Report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.
  • Travel and stay out overnight for up to 2 weeks or more, depending on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance).
  • Clean MVR and PSP.
  • At least 23 years of age with a minimum of 2 years of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience OR 21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience if a graduate from a Truck Driving School or with 1 year of Military experience.
  • Stable work history.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of Class A Driving Experience with no accidents or incidents.
  • Time management and the ability to maintain route consistency.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift, pull, and/or push up to 70 pounds.
  • Bend, stoop, twist, shovel, or reach overhead.
  • Regularly pull/roll up to 300 pounds when working with totes.
  • Handle unpleasant odors from food waste/farms.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
