Class A Driver Yard Jockey- 1st Shift

About the role

To safely and efficiently transport trailers from yard to dock and dock to yard. Use of power equipment to load and unload product. Safely unload, load, transport, locate, stack, and count product.

Responsibilities

• Transport trailers between yard and dock
• Operate power equipment to load and unload product
• Unload, load, transport, locate, stack, and count product
• Secure cargo appropriately to protect from damage and theft
• Perform pre- or post-trip inspections and communicate findings to Dispatch or Maintenance
• Maintain truck’s interior cleanliness (e.g., removal of trash)
• Communicate with Dispatch/shipping office when loads are complete and ready for next assignment
• Communicate with Dispatch/shipping office prior to end of day if additional work is required
• Provide cross-over to shift counterpart when applicable
• Stay on schedule throughout the day, taking required breaks without excessive downtime
• Communicate any service non-conformance to Dispatch
• Communicate immediately to Dispatch if scheduled delivery time is at risk
• Communicate with customers professionally and resolve issues promptly
• Read and understand work instructions from dispatch or shipping office personnel
• Work with electronic communication tools including in-cab systems, smart sheet trailer moves, and e-logs
• Understand regional geography, read maps, follow directions, and make effective route decisions
• Communicate recommendations for improvements in all areas of responsibility

Requirements

• Maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as needed
• Willingness to drive a Class A tractor trailer on commercial routes in Pennsylvania, New York, Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and all other states within the operating area
• Solid knowledge of all safety and regulatory requirements for operating a Class 8 commercial vehicle
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Ability to climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers
• Ability to secure trailer loads
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

Schedule

1st Shift – 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday with overtime as needed.

Pay

$25.00 per hour
