Class A Driver

About the role

Thompson Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking a Class A CDL Operator to join their safety-conscious team. This position involves transporting used hazardous and non-hazardous materials in drums, totes, and tanks from local branches to Chemical Cleaning Services sites across the Southeast region.

Responsibilities

• Act as safety representative, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures, including hands-on safety training, emergency response, and administrative functions.
• Pick up chemicals from customer locations using tanker units and flatbeds.
• Ensure proper loading and unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
• Properly secure loads and complete pre and post-trip inspections, driver's logs, and comply with all vehicle policies and DOT requirements.
• Provide general maintenance in the field.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training, on-the-job training, and essential experience gained on other jobs.
• Valid driver’s license, CDL Class A, and other requirements of company’s driving policy.
• Smartphone required for Electronic Logging Device.
• Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) may be required.
• Knowledgeable in the operation of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers.
• Experience operating a tanker and a flatbed.
• Ability to perform manual labor as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Class A CDL License, required.
• HAZMAT and Tanker Endorsements, required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Twice-Yearly Physical Exam, required.
• Must be knowledgeable in the operation of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers.
• Must have a valid TWIC.

Pay

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this role. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and business needs. In addition to the base salary, some roles may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
