Hiring event: onsite interviews at 2930 Performance Drive, Kendallville, IN 46755 from 9:00am – 3:00pm. No experience required; must hold a CDL-A license. $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply).
About the role
This is an entry-level driver training position. You will learn to drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and/or interstate routes—local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, or overnight—to deliver and unload food and food-related products. All routes must be completed safely in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations. You will interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to ensure service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Attend and complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock-to-Driver Training Program; maintain all required training documentation.
- Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries.
- Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations and company standards; report any safety issues or needed repairs.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies; report hazards immediately.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; verify item counts and customer invoices.
- Complete all freight-related paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Drive to customer locations and deliver orders according to the route schedule.
- Unload products, transport them into customer storage areas, and perform damage checks; scan and report damaged items per company policy.
- Obtain customer signatures to verify delivery; collect payments (cash or checks) where required.
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked/secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and returns at driver check-in; complete necessary paperwork.
- Remove equipment, materials, and trash from trailers; maintain cleanliness of tractor, trailer, and loading dock.
- Record hours of service and maintain logs per federal, state, and company requirements.
- Secure all equipment and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- Internal PFG candidates: 1 year of service in good standing and ability to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card.
- External candidates: 0–6 months of CDL experience (or completion of an approved driver school).
- Valid CDL-A license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and road test.
- Hold or be able to obtain a valid DOT Health Card.
- Able to hand-lift and use equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and stack product cases/freight weighing 60–90 pounds throughout the shift.

Pay
$80,000–$89,000 average annual salary.
