Class A Delivery Driver

About the role

Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time, following DOT regulations.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; inspect equipment to ensure it meets company safety standards and report any issues or repairs needed.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report all safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly, including freight documentation and hours-of-service logs.
• Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks, scan items, and follow company policy for removing damaged orders; verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures.
• Collect payments (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
• Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns at driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required; maintain cleanliness of tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
• Perform general housekeeping duties and secure all equipment at the end of the shift; complete all necessary paperwork.
• Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to answer questions accurately and timely.
• Function as a team member within the department and organization; perform any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Valid CDL-A license; must be 21+ years of age.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
• Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure one.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (10–90 pounds) throughout the shift.
