Class A Delivery Driver

About the role
This is not a typical dock-to-dock Class A driving position. The Delivery Driver works collaboratively as part of the Operations team, responsible for loading, delivering, and installing furniture at Tradeshow and Event venues.
Responsibilities
- Loading Trucks: Inspect furniture to ensure acceptable condition. Load truck safely to protect products from damage during transport. Ensure accurate loading order of items to meet delivery specifications.
- Operations Planning & Communication: Attend pre-delivery meetings to review logistics, timelines, and client expectations. Maintain regular communication with the operations team to report and resolve issues.
- Truck inspections: Complete pre- and post-trip truck inspections. Clean and prep trucks for future shifts.
- Documentation and service logs: Complete all required written documentation. Operate an electronic logging device and maintain records of duty as determined by FMCSA.
- Driving: Drive tractor-trailers, box trucks, or sprinter vans on delivery routes safely and lawfully.
- Deliveries: Install and assemble furniture at tradeshow or event venues based on floor plans or client instructions, ensuring accuracy and aesthetic presentation. Clean, touch up, or perform repairs as needed. Use a show site mobile app to document accurate delivery.
- Pick-ups: Inspect furniture for damage, load it into trucks, and ensure no product is left behind at venues.
- Provide onsite customer service: Interact professionally with clients during deliveries and setups, addressing questions or concerns.
- Supervise temporary labor: Instruct temporary associates on delivery, pickup, loading, or unloading tasks, ensuring work aligns with client requests and safety standards.
- Perform warehouse duties as needed: Manually load or unload materials, organize warehouse items, unbox and clean products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Valid and current Class A driver’s license in the state of residency.
- A minimum of 3 months professional experience driving a tractor-trailer; 1 year of experience preferred.
- Physically able and willing to move furniture indoors, outdoors, up or down stairs, and in all weather conditions; ability to lift 100+ pounds with a partner.
- Ability to comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
- Per FMSCA Regulations: Drivers must read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
- Ability to maintain a valid DOT Medical Evaluator Certificate, including passing a physical and drug screening.
- Ability to successfully pass a road test based on FMCSA/CORT requirements.
- Acceptable MVR per CORT’s Safe Driving Standards.
Pay
$29 per hour.
Schedule
Schedule will vary based on the needs of the business; weekends are required. Opportunity to earn 40 hours a week plus occasional overtime.
