About the role

The Route Driver is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time. You will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, answer questions accurately, and function as a team member within the department and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report safety issues or needed repairs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy.
  • Verify delivery with the customer and obtain proper signatures; collect payment (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers, and maintain cleanliness of tractor, loading dock, and trailers.
  • Complete daily records of hours of service and log entries in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of tractor/trailer commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Class A license and at least 21 years of age.
  • Current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
  • Able to hand-lift and use a two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment.
  • Ability to lift products ranging from 10–35 pounds, with some items up to 60–90 pounds, depending on location.

Pay

$1,500 per week (5 days a week).

Schedule

Monday – Friday; dispatch times start at 3:00 AM.
