Class A CDL Route Driver

About the role

Operate a Class A Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods along designated routes in Columbus, IN. Responsibilities include safe transportation, loading/unloading, documentation, vehicle inspections, customer service, and maintaining professional appearance while adhering to hazardous material safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hard goods, along designated routes.
• Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction.
• Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
• Handle loading and unloading of all materials.
• Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, noting any issues to ensure full safety compliance and maintain vehicle condition.
• Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a company representative during deliveries.
• Professionally manage associate and customer relations.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts.
• Adhere to all hazardous material safety protocols.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• Class A CDL.
• HAZMAT endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Successful completion of Airgas background and motor vehicle check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug‑free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Forklift experience (preferred).
• Touch freight delivery experience (preferred).
• TANKER endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days (preferred).

Schedule

Monday – Friday, start time 6 am, home daily.
