Class A CDL Driver

About the role

Atlas Molded Products is seeking a CDL Driver for the Kansas City, KS Block facility. The position involves driving company equipment within DOT/AMP requirements to transport outbound and inbound materials. Must be able to drive a manual transmission.

Responsibilities

• Drives truck and/or tractor trailer combination for pick-up and delivery of materials.
• Adheres to all DOT, AMP, and safety regulations.
• Uses appropriate equipment for each type of movement.
• Maintains accurate records, logs, and ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Performs pre-operation safety checklist prior to operation of equipment and post-operation once complete.
• Requests and/or performs needed maintenance as required.
• Refuels and prepares equipment, checks fluid levels, cleans equipment externally and internally, replaces bulbs, and provides other general maintenance.
• Detects and eliminates or minimizes safety hazards.
• Verifies product labels and shipping documents prior to departure for delivery and with customer; obtains customer signatures on shipping documents.
• Reports any discrepancies to manager.
• May perform or assist with loading, unloading, and stacking finished products and/or materials by hand or using lifting devices to meet customer requirements.
• Observes and reports any damage to building, property, product, and/or equipment to manager and/or supervisor immediately.
• Follows post-accident substance testing policy as required.
• Performs any other assigned functions and responsibilities.
• Must be trained and familiar with general safety and Quality System Awareness.
• Must be verified by supervisor and signed off on procedures needed to fulfill job requirements within 2 months of hire.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year driving experience.
• Must possess and maintain a current Class A CDL and medical card.
• Must have a clean driving and safety record working within DOT rules and regulations.
• Must sign required releases annually to allow AMP to perform driving records check.
• Must have previous experience delivering to customer locations.

Skills & Abilities

• Must be fluent in the English language, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.
• Maintain professional demeanor at all times.
• Must be able to use simple math and basic hand-held measuring tools.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Moderate to heavy physical effort required, including extended periods of sitting/driving, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, and reaching both forward and above head level. Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift 50-100 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions for the entire shift.
