Class 6 Machine Operator Pet & Wild Bird - 1st Shift

Kaytee is seeking a Class 6 Machine Operator (Mixing Control Room Operator) on 1st shift for our Central Specialty Pet Division in Chilton, WI. Work with products for wild birds, pet birds, and small animals.

About the role

Maintain a surplus of product above the packaging lines to ensure continual manufacturing of finished goods.

Responsibilities

• Mix necessary formulas to cover packaging schedule.
• Ensure proper items and amounts are added to each batch.
• Plan mixing operations to meet product schedule in the most efficient manner, including pre-staging future mixes.
• Accurately complete all required paperwork.
• Maintain communication between Line Leaders, Set-Up Technicians, Mill Operators, Shift Supervisors, Production Scheduler, Maintenance, and Quality Control.
• Accurate recording of inventory transactions.
• Maintain ingredient bin inventories.
• Perform equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.

Requirements

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to operate forklift and handcart safely.
• Ability to work independently and as a team efficiently and accurately.
• Capable of using SAP (training provided).
• Competence with general computer skills and Outlook email.
• Strong communication skills and basic math skills.
• Ability to distinguish colors and the smell of different oils.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, and up to 100 lbs with assistance; frequent bending, lifting, and twisting.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a warehouse environment.
• Warehouse temperatures can vary due to outside temperatures.
• Hours generally align with regular business hours (on 1st shift) averaging at least 40 hours per week, with possible overtime and variation due to special projects or deadlines.
