About the role

The Trainer at Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company (ACIC) is responsible for conducting claims on-boarding and administering initial systems and test environment training over a 3-4 week period. They also assist with developing and implementing training programs as needed for current staff and new hires.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs addressing all lines of business ACIC writes.
  • Periodically review training programs to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and staff needs.
  • Communicate with management and adjusters based on audit results.
  • Develop individual and/or group training programs based on audit findings.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of claims handling, including coverage, liability, investigation, litigation, negotiation, salvage, and subrogation.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive company information.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to state laws and regulations governing property and casualty claims.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, construction, underwriting, marketing, and auto physical damage and/or property estimating.
  • Experience with WORD and Excel systems.
  • Experience with claims training preferred.
  • 12-15 years of successful claims handling experience, including advanced skills in coverage analysis, investigation, litigation management, negotiation, salvage, and subrogation.
  • Knowledge of medical terms and legal issues.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Licensing: North Carolina resident adjuster’s license preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with claims training.
  • 12-15 years of successful claims handling experience.
  • Advanced skills in coverage analysis, investigation, litigation management, negotiation, salvage, and subrogation.
  • Knowledge of medical terms and legal issues.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Mental Requirements

The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to think independently, interpret information, and convey technical information. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Works indoors at a cubicle with a computer.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.

Travel

20% to 40% (depending on where the claims trainers are located, the supervisor may need to travel to branch offices to visit with their direct reports).
