About the Role

This unique hybrid role (2 days a week in-office) allows you to rotate across various liability claims desks based on organizational needs. You will manage a portfolio of mid-level to complex, high-severity, and specialized liability claims, ensuring superior claims service and proactive disposition on a national basis. The role supports multiple teams temporarily and contributes to departmental goals aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Handle an assigned portfolio of mid-level to complex auto and general liability claims across multiple jurisdictions through proactive investigation, coverage determinations, liability and damages evaluations, and litigation management.
  • Provide temporary support to multiple teams to manage claim portfolios as needed.
  • Develop, negotiate, and coordinate resolution strategies to mitigate allocated loss adjustment expenses and costs in the best interest of policyholders, agencies, and the organization.
  • Establish and maintain accurate reserves for each claim to reflect financial exposure.
  • Report and present large losses during internal file conferences and roundtables.
  • Develop and execute risk transfer strategies and negotiate cost-share agreements.
  • Adjudicate claims in accordance with Amerisure’s claims guidelines and quality standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to less experienced staff during rotational assignments.
  • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
  • Maintain current knowledge of multijurisdictional legal developments and trends.
  • Assist in file auditing and portfolio closing initiatives to achieve department goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • 8 years of commercial claims experience, including high-complexity, high-severity general and auto liability claims.
  • 5 years of experience handling litigated files and directing outside defense counsel.
  • Extensive knowledge of current tort, contract, and coverage laws in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and deliver technical results to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Willingness to take on new assignments as required.
  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including handling ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers.
  • Industry accreditation preferred.
  • Ability to obtain required state licensing.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 20%.
