Claims Intern
About the role
Coaction Specialty Insurance is offering an exciting internship opportunity for ambitious students who seek to gain work experience with a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing organization. In this internship, you will work alongside industry leaders to help Coaction provide customers with an unrivaled level of service. The program will provide a unique learning experience to develop professional skills and support career development through hands-on learning with one or more of our claims teams supporting product verticals, including Casualty, Binding and Multi-Line, Executive Liability, Property, and Entertainment. Interns who successfully complete this program may have the opportunity to explore full-time roles with Coaction.
Responsibilities
- Gain a thorough understanding of the claims process through an apprenticeship with a senior claim professional, who will act as a mentor and provide ongoing feedback on performance.
- Get exposure to claim files and litigated cases.
- Participate in meetings with personnel from all levels of the organization on issues impacting claims and/or underwriting.
- Become an integral part of ongoing claims investigations by performing various tasks, including:
- Participating in claims round table sessions to discuss investigation findings, recommendations for additional work, and claims evaluation.
- Attending mediations, trials, and other court sessions with claims personnel.
- Interfacing with external vendors, including defense and coverage lawyers.
- Collaborate with underwriters and other departments across the organization.
- Assist with claim data collection to provide underwriting with account-specific information and help identify industry-wide claim trends.
Requirements
- Students must be considered rising juniors, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2028 (other grade levels will not be considered).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Candidates must live local to the Morristown, NJ area, as relocation assistance is not provided and in-office attendance is required.

Schedule
This internship program is full-time (5 days a week) and will take place in Summer 2027 from June to August at our Morristown office. Remote work is not offered.
