Job Type Permanent Build a brilliant future with Hiscox Position: Claims Examiner- 1st Party Property Team: 1st Party Property The Role The Claims Examiner adjudicates assigned claims within given authority and provides operational support to the claims team. This person also: Adjusts and resolves moderate claims that includes all phases 1st Party commercial claims for our Property TeamAccurately reviews and assesses coverage for all lossesCompletes full in depth investigations to confirm how coverage is relevant and applies it to the lossManages smaller business income losses and the period of restorationAccurately documents claim files with all relevant claim documentation, correspondence and notes in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory authoritiesAccurately assesses reserves for indemnity and expense paymentsWith minimal supervision, drafts coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial lettersDrives 1st Party Best Practices to manage expense and exposure on lossesHas a high level of customer serviceIdentifies suspected fraudulent claims and tracks with special investigations unitParticipates in Claims projects as needed Requirements 1+ years of 1st Party Commercial claims handling experienceAdvanced knowledge of claims analysis and adjusting practicesIn depth knowledge of standards for claims documentationProven ability to actively and effectively negotiate settlement of moderate to complex claimsStrong analytical skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsActive insurance adjuster’s license preferredB.A./B.S degree from an accredited College or University preferred Additional Factors Considered Subject matter expertiseDemonstrated take charge attitude and ability to work with minimal oversight within their authority levelsIdentifies and suggests improvements to processes within the claim department and raises with manager The Team The US Claims team at Hiscox is a growing group of professionals working together to provide superior customer service and claims handling expertise.
