About the role
The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Claims Development Technician (Administrative Specialist 1) to support the Collaborative Disability Determination Unit (CDDU) in developing disability claims and ensuring timely and accurate case progression.
Responsibilities
- Enter and track client data, generate documents and reports, and schedule and confirm clients for provider appointments.
- Generate correspondence directed to clients, client representatives, providers, and assist eligible children and adults in seeking SSI/SSDI/SSB benefits.
- Support PMDDT's disability analysts by entering and tracking clients' data, generating documents and forms, requesting Medical Evidence of Record (MER), and consulting with DA for complex claim development.
- Facilitate expedited disability decision processing for cases needing long-term care, hospital discharge, or other medical emergencies.
- Manage pending caseloads in various stages of development, ensuring medical records are organized, accurate, and complete.
- Communicate with authorized representatives, medical providers, hospitals, attorneys, or other individuals regarding claim development.
- Utilize special tracking tools or databases to ensure MER requests are completed in a timely manner.
- Apply appropriate policies and procedures within the assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience, or an associate degree in general office occupations with one year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience reviewing applications, documents, or forms for accuracy and compliance with regulations and guidelines.
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience contacting collateral sources to resolve claims.
- Experience working with databases and/or multiple computer programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Oregon driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of disability determination processes and regulations.

Pay
$3,798 - $5,193 annually.
Schedule
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST, Monday – Friday during the training period. A flexible schedule may be negotiated after training in addition to a hybrid option.
