Claims Development Technician (Administrative Specialist 1)
About the role
The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Claims Development Technician (Administrative Specialist 1) to support the Collaborative Disability Determination Unit (CDDU) in developing disability claims. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate case development, helping to safeguard access to critical disability services.
Responsibilities
- Supports CDDU Disability Analyst by entering and tracking client data, generating documents and reports, scheduling and confirming clients for provider appointments, and generating correspondence directed to clients, providers, and client representatives.
- Manages pending caseload in various stages of development, obtaining records, ensuring medical records are organized, accurate, and complete.
- Consults with Disability Analysts for clarification or advice on complex claim development and caseload management practices.
- Reviews case information to ensure completeness, including age, allegations, and binding disability determination decisions by Disability Determination Services (DDS).
- Records progress of case development on databases.
- Facilitates expedited disability decision processing for cases identified as needing placement into long-term care, discharge from hospitals, or addressing medical emergencies.
- Works independently with minimal supervision, applying appropriate policies and procedures within the assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR an associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Attributes
- Experience reviewing applications, documents, or forms for accuracy and compliance with regulations and guidelines.
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience contacting collateral sources (e.g., attorneys, representatives, and state and federal agencies) to resolve claims.
- Experience working with databases and/or multiple computer programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a course in human relations or social sciences preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Skills

Pay
$3,798 - $5,193 per month.
Schedule
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST, Monday – Friday during the training period. A flexible schedule may be negotiated after training in addition to a hybrid option.
