Claims Adjuster

Location: Overland Park, KS (Kansas City Metro) • Full-time, in-office • Relocation assistance provided

You’ll be responsible for guiding our customers through the claims process with empathy, accuracy, and speed—making sure we create a fast, easy, and effortless experience.

Responsibilities

• Learn the Steadily approach to claims handling, helping create a fast, easy, and effortless experience for our customers.
• Establish new claims by taking the customer’s First Notice of Loss.
• Request appraisals, estimates, cause & origin reports, and various other reports to assist in the investigation of the claim.
• Communicate with customers using their preferred channel of communication (phone, text, email, mail).
• Review estimates and reports and issue payments as owed under the policy contract.
• Adjust claim files with extremely high quality, exceeding the expectations of internal/external auditor security, including ample documentation, regular diary entries, and quality application of coverage and compliance with all claims-related laws and regulations.
• Write exterior estimates with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• During catastrophes, help the entire team in an all-hands-on-deck approach.
• Assist in establishing new workflows, improving existing workflows, and building claims processes.
• May be asked to assist in projects.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience adjusting P&C Insurance claims.
• Active adjuster license.
• Expertise in property claims; experience in homeowners, condo, and landlord insurance is a plus.
• Xactimate experience preferred.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate concisely and diplomatically while maintaining a calm demeanor.
• Extensive knowledge of standard claims practices, estimating, claims processes, coverage application, subrogation, SIU, and related areas.
• Above-average computer skills; ability to independently learn new software quickly and use online resources effectively.
• Self-driven, thrives under pressure, and can manage a large workload with minimal oversight.
• Hungry to grow in an early-stage tech company and willing to roll up your sleeves.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of 3rd party claims and 1st party litigation.
• AIC and/or ARM certification.
• Experience in subrogation, fraud investigation, or property damage estimating.
• Prior project management experience.
