American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS, Inc.) is seeking a remote Claims Adjuster based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the surrounding area. This role focuses on loss adjustment, pre-acceptance, and quality control for Crop Hail and Federally Reinsured Crop Insurance products.
Responsibilities
- Communicate directly and follow up with insureds to perform loss adjustments, pre-acceptance, or quality control inspections to gather facts for claim settlements or inspections.
- Stay current with crop insurance industry procedures for proper claim adjustment.
- Analyze and recommend enhancements for company software to ensure compliance with company and RMA procedures.
- Perform claim audits and reviews.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree and/or 2+ years of claims adjusting experience.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain required adjuster certifications and licenses.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy information and applicable procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Crop Hail and Multi-Peril Insurance policy forms, endorsements, and approved claims adjusting procedures.
- Crop insurance experience, particularly in claims.
- Understanding of farming practices and crops typical to the territory.
Essential Functions and Physical Demands
- Ability to drive for extended periods of time.
- Primary territory includes the home state and adjoining states, requiring some overnight travel.
- Willingness to travel and accept assignments in any state serviced by AFBIS.
- Capability to climb grain bins or other storage structures and walk on uneven ground during field adjustments.
Pay
The expected starting salary range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
