Civil Superintendent
About the role
We're seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to lead utility, site development, roadway, excavation, grading, drainage, and paving projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the field, managing crews, solving problems, and driving projects to successful completion.
Responsibilities
- Lead field operations on utility, site development, roadway, excavation, grading, drainage, and paving projects.
- Manage Foremen, crews, subcontractors, and vendors to keep projects running efficiently.
- Cookordination with Project Managers to develop schedules, site logistics, and work plans.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure OSHA compliance on all jobsites.
- Track project progress, manpower, equipment, and productivity.
- Oversee the installation of water mains, sewer systems, storm drainage, and other underground utilities.
- Review construction plans and specifications to ensure accurate execution in the field.
- Maintain communication with inspectors, engineers, municipalities, and utility companies.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and project requirements.
- Mentor and develop field personnel while building strong, successful teams.
- Assist with project documentation, change orders, RFIs, and reporting.
- Support construction layout, survey coordination, and project planning efforts.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction.
- Experience managing crews, subcontractors, and multiple jobsite activities.
- Strong experience in: Water main installation, Sewer construction, Underground utilities, Site development, Excavation and earthwork, Drainage systems, Roadway and paving projects.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 10 and First Aid certifications.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with municipal, DOT, or public infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with permitting and construction requirements in Westchester County.
- Knowledge of RFIs, change orders, scheduling, and project controls.
- Experience with concrete work and complex civil site development projects.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Vernon, NY.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100,000.00 - $150,000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
