About the Role
Generally responsible for performing routine design of less complex assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. With experience, you will assist in the design of larger and more complex civil/structural projects under close supervision.
Responsibilities
- Familiarity with and utilization of department design and drafting standards.
- Understanding of project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
- Review of structural calculations, equipment drawings, and layouts or drawings from other disciplines before initiating drafting efforts.
- Drafting civil/structural plans under close supervision.
- Knowledge of basic civil material specifications to ensure all required information for material purchase, fabrication, and construction is reflected on finished drawings.
- Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.
- Assisting teammates in field-related work, including collecting design information and verifying designs for tie-ins, function, and clearances to existing facilities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting (preferred).
- 2+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural drafting and design.
Skills
- Ability to produce drawings for concrete, structural steel, and/or civil disciplines.
- Familiarity with specifications and details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
- Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
- Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or both).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- Developing virtual team skills and cross-divisional relationships.
