About the Role

The Civil Senior Engineer I will apply a strong technical background and sound engineering judgement to develop deliverables for industrial site development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Develop design concepts, prepare calculations, write specifications, and issue construction drawings.
  • Interface with permitting agencies, rail operators, utility companies, and municipalities.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer, supervising designers and other engineering staff, interfacing directly with project personnel and clients, and monitoring budgets and schedules.
  • Function as engineer-of-record for civil/site project scope.
  • Prepare written scopes of work documents and coordinate efforts of topographic/hydrographic survey and geotechnical subconsultants.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Assist in preparation of proposals.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • 6+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality.

Skills

  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial site development, roads/streets/highways, storm drainage collection and retention/detention systems, potable water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and pumping systems, site grading, and earthwork.
  • Experience in rail layout/design, rail operator industrial track standards/requirements, and approval processes/procedures.
  • General understanding of local/state/federal regulatory agency permitting requirements and processes/procedures.
  • Proficient in common civil engineering and Microsoft software packages (HEC, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Excel, Word).
  • Experience in bulk material handling and liquid terminal facilities is a plus.
