About the role

The Civil Project Engineer will focus on the planning, design, and management of various civil engineering projects including water/wastewater/stormwater and transportation projects for local and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, complete and manage a variety of municipal and some private owner driven civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare and develop construction, design documents and plans.
  • Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants.
  • Occasional project, city staff and board meetings.
  • Communicate planning objectives for clients current and future projects.
  • Prepare project proposals.
  • Aid in business development efforts and development of projects.
  • Interaction with IDOT, IEPA, County, MWRD, and understanding of project submittals.
  • Team leader and mentoring younger engineers.
  • Manage, support, and build relationships with clients and agencies.
  • Conduct project field observation and condition assessments.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
  • 8 – 15 years of related civil engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or actively seeking licensure.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager a plus.
  • Federal, State, local regulatory authorities, IDOT experience.
  • Experience working with municipal and private clients.
  • IDOT – MFT project experience a plus.
  • Sanitary sewer, water line and storm water management design experience a plus.
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoPak, SS4, MicroStation or OpenRoads experience.
  • Team experience with multiple ongoing projects.
  • Contract development skills.
  • Construction engineering and observation knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal, state, local regulatory authorities, IDOT, and project submittals.

Pay

$90,000 - $120,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
