Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for civil site design projects for commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Complete and oversee permit applications for various municipalities in coordination with the team, client, and reviewing jurisdiction.
- Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.
- Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
- Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects; lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended.
- Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
- Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
Requirements
- Knowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3D.
- Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors.
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field.
- Able to train and mentor less experienced staff.
- Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred.
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry.
Skills
