Civil Party Chief

About the Role

The qualified candidate will work as part of a one- or two-person survey crew, performing a variety of survey types for public and private clients in Denver, Colorado, and surrounding states. This role requires a functional knowledge of all survey equipment, including setup, acquisition styles, and equipment limitations relative to project tolerances and expectations. The candidate must be reliable, detail-oriented, possess strong work ethics, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. The ability to work independently and oversee the accuracy and integrity of all survey aspects, including routine maintenance of equipment, is essential. The candidate must stay current with the latest surveying methods and be open to adapting to new equipment and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
• Support projects in Denver, Colorado, and surrounding states.
• Set up, operate, and routinely validate accuracies of survey equipment, including data collectors, digital levels, and GPS systems.
• Perform and verify survey-related mathematical calculations.
• Prepare and maintain legible field notes and sketches for all work performed.
• Conduct all aspects of stakeout and location surveys using applicable survey equipment.
• Maintain all survey equipment and keep the survey truck stocked with necessary supplies and tools.
• Coordinate the work of assigned subordinate personnel.
• Perform accuracy and calibration checks and adjustments on equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a civil survey party chief.
• Residential survey experience.
• Experience working on renewable and land development projects.

Skills

• Proficient with Trimble Access, Trimble Business Center, Trimble robotic total stations, Trimble GPS, and data upload/download routines.
• Knowledgeable with Trimble survey styles, site calibration routines, and methodology.
• Familiar with field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
• Ability to perform all aspects of data collection for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, roadway corridor surveys, control surveys, and as-built surveys.
• Comfortable working outside in all seasons and along roadways or near congested traffic.
