TaskForce has been retained to recruit a Chief of Staff for a confidential, mission-driven organization operating at the intersection of politics and public affairs. The organization works nationally, engages senior leaders across government, media, and philanthropy, and operates in high-stakes environments where judgment, discretion, and execution matter.
About This Role
The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted strategic partner to organizational leadership and a central driver of execution. This role is designed for a highly discreet operator who can manage operations and finances, align cross-functional work, and support leadership on strategy, communications, and external partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with leadership on strategy, decision-making, and priority management.
- Support messaging and communications strategy, including preparation of briefings, talking points, and strategic memos.
- Convert leadership direction into actionable plans, timelines, and execution frameworks.
- Oversee and support day-to-day operations to ensure alignment and follow-through.
- Partner on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning; monitor spend and organizational health.
- Build and maintain systems, workflows, and operating rhythms that enable accountability and scale.
- Serve as a trusted integrator across departments, resolving issues and maintaining momentum.
- Support senior leaders in managing teams, deliverables, and time-sensitive priorities.
- Lead special projects and sensitive initiatives on behalf of leadership.
- Support leadership in managing high-level partnerships and key external relationships.
- Cook up and coordinate with external stakeholders across politics, media, advocacy, and allied sectors.
- Provide oversight and support for major events or public-facing moments as needed.
Requirements
- 7+ years in senior operations, strategy, or management roles.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with executive leadership in high-stakes, fast-moving environments.
- Experience collaborating with or supporting marketing and communications efforts, including messaging and positioning.
- Strong operational and financial judgment, with comfort overseeing budgets and organizational performance.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage complexity with calm and clarity.
- High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and a proven track record of discretion and trust.
- A plus: Experience in politics, campaigns, government, or public affairs.
- A plus: Experience supporting or overseeing large-scale events, convenings, or experiential initiatives.
