We are looking for an accomplished Civil Litigation Attorney to join a growing legal team in Houston, Texas on a contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed attorney who brings strong courtroom preparation, persuasive legal writing, and the ability to manage matters efficiently from intake through resolution.

About the role

The role involves close collaboration with attorneys, clients, paralegals, and administrative professionals to deliver high-quality legal service across a busy civil litigation practice.

Responsibilities

  • Handle civil litigation matters by researching legal issues, developing case strategies, and preparing each file for hearings, negotiations, and other proceedings.
  • Draft and revise a wide range of legal documents, including motions, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, correspondence, contracts, and settlement materials.
  • Represent clients in hearings and related proceedings while providing sound legal guidance aligned with case objectives and procedural requirements.
  • Work directly with clients and internal team members to evaluate disputes, identify practical solutions, and move matters toward timely resolution.
  • Direct day-to-day case progress by managing deadlines, client communications, billable work, meetings, and final deliverables across an active caseload.
  • Review filings and work product prepared by paralegals, associates, and support staff to maintain accuracy, quality, and consistency.
  • Provide guidance to administrative personnel on billing coordination, invoicing, scheduling, and the completion of client-related projects.
  • Maintain organized and current case files so attorneys and support staff can access accurate information throughout the lifecycle of each matter.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission and current authorization to practice law.
  • At least 2 years of litigation experience, with civil litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare legal briefs, motions, pleadings, and other formal written submissions.
  • Strong legal research, analytical thinking, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior attorneys, clients, paralegals, and administrative staff.
  • Comfortable using legal technology and digital tools to manage documents, cases, and communication.
  • Willingness to obtain required organizational certification, if applicable.
