Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

• Conducts pre-treatment and stormwater inspections on storm drains and related business facilities.
• Reviews and conditions new business projects to ensure appropriate pre-treatment and stormwater regulations are applied.
• Captures and analyzes industrial waste samples.
• Responds to illicit discharge reports of industrial and commercial businesses and other sites identified by the Municipal NPDES Permit.
• Represents the City at meetings related to pre-treatment and stormwater quality issues.
• Maintains monitoring and reporting of funding related to User Fees.
• Prepares and processes site inspection reports and other related reports in compliance with Federal and State water quality enforcement agencies.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to two years college with major course work in stormwater and wastewater chemistry, biology, or science related to the environment.
• One year of progressively responsible experience conducting laboratory tests and inspections related to the evaluation of wastewater, stormwater, or raw water discharge.
• Two years experience performing wastewater analysis, collection system operation, water treatment plant operations, or wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Three years of progressively responsible full time experience inspecting a variety of pretreatment systems, facilities and processes of industrial, commercial, residential and institutional establishments for compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and permit conditions related to pretreatment of wastewater and stormwater.
• An Associates Degree is highly desirable.
