Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a full caseload of insurance defense matters, including auto liability, premises liability, general liability, and related civil litigation claims.
- Handle all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
- Conduct depositions of parties, fact witnesses, treating providers, experts, and corporate representatives.
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions, discovery motions, and motions in limine.
- Develop and implement litigation strategy in partnership with clients and insurance carriers.
- Prepare timely and detailed reporting to insurers and clients regarding case status, exposure, and settlement recommendations.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Manage relationships with clients, claims professionals, experts, and opposing counsel.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate billing records and meet productivity expectations.
Requirements
- Possess a J.D. from an accredited law school and maintain an active Colorado Bar license in good standing.
- At least four years of insurance defense litigation experience, with a background handling matters involving automobile liability, premises liability, general liability, construction defect, or other casualty claims.
- Experience taking and defending depositions, as well as significant motion practice experience.
- Trial experience, whether serving as first-chair or second-chair counsel, is strongly preferred.
