Civil Land Survey Party Chief

Key Responsibilities

• Gather field survey data through use of conventional and GPS methods
• Set up, adjust and operate surveying equipment including robotic total station, data collectors and GPS equipment
• Mentor, train and supervise field staff
• Coordinate field survey work
• Positively represent the firm while communicating professionally and regularly with clients on-site
• Think on your feet and make decisions on the fly
• Conduct field calculations and sketches
• Download and check data while being held accountable for the accuracy of all survey documents
• Adhere to QA/QC procedures and maintain company standards
• Maintain project schedules and complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion
• Maintain and take care of all company equipment and vehicles

Skills/Qualifications

• 5-10 years survey party chief experience – LSIT or PLS NOT required
• Knowledge of survey calculations and ability to work in AutoCAD and/or Carlson
• Proficient with Trimble GPS and robotic total station data collection methods
• A good driving record and a valid driver's license
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
• Strong verbal/communication skills
• A can-do attitude and willingness to work overtime
• An FAA drone pilot's license for UAS drone flights is preferred, but not required

About the Role

The Survey Party Chief will plan, evaluate, and conduct field survey activities, manage and mentor the field survey teams, coordinate field survey work, and maintain daily survey logs as part of public and private commercial, residential, and industrial development projects.
