Land Surveying Party Chief

About the role

The Party Chief coordinates with the Survey Chief of Parties to ensure the scope of the job is fully comprehended and that all aspects of day-to-day operations are understood by the survey crew.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all aspects of day-to-day operations are understood by the survey crew (Chainmen)
• Establishes a work plan to finish each task in a timely manner
• Reviews all maps pertaining to each job
• Sets up each job, utilizing the appropriate survey equipment
• Locates and establishes site control, using accepted survey mapping practices
• Takes detailed notes and sketches of level runs, areas, and boundaries
• Downloads and organizes all field data daily to Share file

Requirements

• Complete understanding of the principles of Surveying
• Ability to read and understand plans, Assessor maps, Tract maps, Parcel maps, Record of Survey, and field inventory maps
• Proficiency with the equipment provided by the company
• Ability to communicate well with the public and clearly explain the scope of your project
• Ability to motivate, manage, and further the knowledge and skills of your Chainmen
• Basic algebra and trigonometry training required for field calculations
• Good organizational, planning, and communications skills

Schedule

Work a 4-10 schedule, Monday–Thursday, with overtime as needed.
