About the role
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer, Transportation to join our team in Appleton, WI. In this role you will work as a team to provide support to a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and local agency codes.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the design of public infrastructure work, including roadway, highway, and other related projects in accordance with DOT standards.
- Provide technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities.
- Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
- Prepare drawings and visual aids.
- Create various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, or other related engineering software.
- Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
- Observe construction activities and work to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product.
- Work to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and apply them successfully to operating systems.
- Coordinate with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
- Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
