Job Type Full-time Description Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team. In this role, you are expected to work on a team providing support to a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and local agency codes. As part of our Public Infrastructure team, you will be dedicated to becoming proficient in Design Software, performing technical calculations, preparing plans and specifications, and assisting with other project management and engineering tasks. In pursuit of a Professional Engineering license, the applicant must be organized, self-motivated, and able to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within budget. Expected start date: January 2026 or May/June 2027 Requirements Job Requirements: Assist project team in design of public infrastructure workProvides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activitiesPrepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluationsPrepares drawings and visual aids Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering softwareFollow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systemsCoordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issuesUtilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPointOther duties as assigned Required Skills Outgoing, friendly, approachable (team player)Strong communication skills with team members and clients, demonstrates active listening techniquesProficient in computer software (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Microsoft Project)Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasksAble to proactively pursue design solutionsAbility to be open to other's ideas and willing to compromiseDetail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptualAble to compromise and accept other’s ideasGood reputation amongst peers, clients, and agenciesAble to follow general directions and guidelines for the firm’s policies, practices, and proceduresA supportive team member with the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative environment Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 monthsEngineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
