About the Role
NAES is seeking an experienced Civil Field Engineer to provide on-site civil engineering support and construction oversight for a new combined-cycle power generation project. This role serves as the technical representative for civil construction activities associated with equipment and systems, working closely with the EPC contractor to resolve technical issues, monitor construction quality, support inspections and turnover activities, and ensure work is performed in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site civil engineering support and technical guidance to the EPC contractor.
- Review civil construction activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Respond to technical questions and coordinate engineering solutions with the design team.
- Review quality documentation, witness inspections, and document field observations and NCRs.
- Support engineering changes, redline drawings, turnover, punch list, and as-built activities.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, quality, and construction teams.
- Promote safe work practices and exercise stop-work authority when required.
- Prepare field reports, lessons learned, and assignment closeout documentation.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods for power generation or heavy industrial facilities.
- Ability to interpret civil, structural, foundation, and equipment installation drawings.
- Familiarity with EPC construction, quality control, and commissioning processes.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction reporting systems.
- Ability to work full-time at the project site in Tennessee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of civil field engineering, construction oversight, or owner's representative experience supporting utility-scale power generation or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience supporting combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or other gas-fired power plant construction strongly preferred, including equipment foundations, embedments, and structural interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee EPC contractors, review civil construction activities, respond to technical issues, and ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Excellent working knowledge of civil construction quality processes, inspection and test plans (ITPs), turnover, punch lists, and engineering change management.
