About the role
Herzog Energy, Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Estimator in the United States to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, scopes, and proposals for public and private utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, supporting competitive bids and negotiated work.
Responsibilities
- Work in a team environment and collaborate with other estimators, project managers, and construction personnel.
- Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather project-specific information.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates for solar civil construction activities.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for civil components including grading, excavation, drainage systems, access roads, foundations, underground utilities, and site improvements.
- Develop cost breakdowns and pricing models using historical data, supplier quotes, subcontractor proposals, and production rates.
- Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews during the estimating and preconstruction process.
- Affiliate with estimate reviews, bid preparation, and project handoff activities.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Three to five years estimating or equivalent construction experience preferred.
- Experience estimating civil scopes for utility-scale solar, renewable energy, heavy civil, or site development projects preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, or similar estimating software is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Communicate professionally to all parties both orally and in writing.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Approximately 30% travel required.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
