About the role
The Estimator is responsible for preparing proposals including cost, technical, and commercial responses. They analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services. The role involves interpreting safety hazards related to the work and implementing construction strategies, with potential work in plant operations or construction jobsites.
Responsibilities
- Review and understand bid documents published by the client.
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, bidding, vendor/subcontractor selection, and cost-effectiveness analysis.
- Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and resolve estimate-related issues.
- Interface with internal teams to obtain support and commitment for cost estimates.
- Follow estimating procedures and policies.
- Conduct pre-job checklists and define the scope of work.
- Coordinate disciplines within the estimating team.
- Perform multiple types of quantity take-offs.
- Prepare project bid schedules.
- Promote team interaction by brainstorming constructability, analyzing production rates, and optimizing indirect costs to reduce project duration.
- Prepare technical and commercial approaches to proposal costs.
- Ensure contract terms and conditions are reviewed by appropriate counsel for exceptions or comments.
- Assist others as needed.

- Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
- Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.

- Interpret and apply company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions.
- Perform mathematical calculations, analyze business data, and review project estimates.
