Civil Engineering Specialist - Hydraulics

The Hydraulic Civil Engineering Specialist develops alternatives and innovative approaches to complex hydraulic problems for multiple projects in various stages of development. This position ensures hydraulic activities are completed on schedule through advanced engineering design and analysis, documentation of results, and coordination with various department work units. Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions for complex hydraulic problems across multiple projects.
• Perform advanced engineering design and analysis.
• Document results and communicate findings to department work units.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project timelines are met.
• Utilize standard and specialized software applications, computer modeling techniques, and statistical analysis.
• Engage in effective oral and written communication for client, customer, or official contracts and meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• Proof of passage of the Fundamental Engineering Exam (FE) for mid-level and top-level positions.
• Engineering Intern Certification (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license for top-level positions.
• Valid driver’s record (verified upon hire).
• Compliance with state vehicle use policies.

Qualifications

Entry Level – Civil Engineering Specialist 1 ($33.04/hour)

• No prior work experience required.

Mid-Level – Civil Engineering Specialist 2 ($34.31/hour)

• 6 months to 2 years of related work experience.

Top Level – Civil Engineering Specialist 3 ($39.36/hour)

• 2 to 4 years of related work experience.

Skills

• Proficiency in standard and specialized engineering software and computer modeling.
• Ability to analyze and interpret statistical information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulic engineering principles and practices.
