Job Summary

The position is responsible for tuning hydraulic extrusion equipment and monitoring other Non-Destructive testing to achieve optimal performance and reliability across all Hydro Extrusion North America locations. This position reports directly to the Director of Reliability. The job requires extensive travel (80%), and the home office will be based in the United States.

What you will be doing

  • Perform testing and tuning to ensure no hydraulic shock is occurring during operation that can result in early hydraulic system failures.
  • Tune hydraulic equipment to OEM standards ensuring dead cycle times are maintained at design levels for productivity and equipment reliability.
  • Trouble shoot hydraulic issues when plant resources require support.
  • Cook up all activities through the local Maintenance Manager. Coordination with the Supply Chain Manager in the event of required scheduled outages.
  • Work within
  • Perform root cause analysis on hydraulic failures with emphasis on preventing and/or delaying future failures to increase mean time between failure.
  • Support hydraulic equipment upgrades across ENA as needed.
  • Use standard project management tools, practices, and software to manage and communicate

What will make you successful?

  • Required Education/Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years industrial hydraulics experience.
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Read and interpret hydraulic drawings
    • PLC experience in hydraulic systems.
    • Basic controls and electrical systems
    • PLC programming knowledge for the purpose of tuning hydraulic systems.
    • Demonstrated engineering experience in Asset Strategy, PdM, PM, and Problem Solving.
    • Experience in using change management principles to successfully change organizational culture.
  • Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of extrusion press hydraulics helpful.
    • BS in Engineering is preferred.
    • Hydraulic experience without a BS in Engineering will be considered.
    • Preferred candidates will have working knowledge of complete hydraulic system best practices for life cycle acceleration and proactive/preventative maintenance
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of our organization from shop floor to top management.
    • Influential leadership that demonstrates ability to achieve results through others.
    • Ability to maintain a focused systematic approach.
    • Good understanding and demonstrated project management experience.
    • Adaptable to change.
    • Good Computer Skills. (Includes knowledge of Microsoft products as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, CAD experience is preferred). Experience with data analysis from a computerized management system is helpful.
    • Ability to travel extensively
