About the role
We are seeking an experienced Irrigation Leader to join our team. This role involves leading the irrigation practice at HDR Engineering, assisting in its growth and technical leadership, and managing hydraulic/irrigation focused civil design projects.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle
- Manage all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects
- Lead a group of professionals in the management, execution, and production of studies, designs, reports, plans, and specifications for a diverse range of hydraulic facilities and structures
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
- Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, ensuring completion of deliverables on schedule
- Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure completion within budget and schedule
- Implement QA/QC procedures
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- Master's degree
- 10+ years civil engineering experience, with emphasis on design and irrigation
- Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Experience in planning studies, design, and irrigation
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Desired experience includes business development related to irrigation projects and working with irrigation districts, the Bureau of Reclamation, and Natural Resources Conservation Service
- Experience with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribes
- Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience
- Minimum 2 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
- Demonstrated leadership skills
Skills
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with planning, design, and construction of water storage reservoirs, pumping plants, river diversions, conveyance and control facilities, hydropower, and erosion control
- Experience with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribes
- Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $110,656 - $158,080 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
Schedule
This is a Full-time Employee position.
Business Class
This role is within the Water Supply Management business class.
