Civil Engineering Intern (Highway) - Summer 2027
About the Role
We are seeking a Highway Engineering Intern to work in our St. Charles, Illinois office. This entry-level position assists the St. Charles Highway Group with the development of studies, reports, and highway construction plans. The role focuses on mastering technical work functions and expanding professional discipline skills.
Under direct supervision, the intern will perform routine engineering assignments, including compiling data, utilizing applied software and technology for engineering analysis, assisting in report preparation, completing elementary design calculations, preparing quantity takeoffs and estimates, creating engineering plans using CADD, and observing ongoing and completed construction projects.

Requirements
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- 0 to 4 years of highway design experience
- Exposure to AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred
- Previous internship experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or related experience
- AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience
- Experience or exposure to IDOT plans preparation and design standards
- Specific interest in Transportation/Roadway Design
